LG Elec launches Android-based smartphone (Reuters)

Reuters – LG Electronics Inc, the world’s No. 3 mobile phone maker, on Wednesday launched a smartphone based on Google’s Android operating system in South Korea, as it seeks to boost its relatively weak smartphone line-ups.

HP Flaunts Flash and AIR on Slate Tablet (PC World)

PC World – Hewlett-Packard has begun a marketing campaign against the iPad and for its Slate tablet PC, highlighting the fact its tablet runs Adobe and AIR software and the iPad doesn’t. HP is still mum on the specifications, pricing, and the release date of its Windows 7-based Slate tablet. But that hasn’t stopped HP from flaunting its tablet in the days leading up to Apple’s release of the iPad. Pre-orders for the iPad will start on March 12.

Sentilla’s Energy Management Tool Gets Chargeback Feature (PC World)

PC World – Sentilla has released an update to its data-center energy management tool, which lets IT and facilities staff track the energy usage of servers and other equipment. The latest version is a software-only product that adds a chargeback capability, allowing companies to bill individual business units for the energy they use.

Report: Google Working On Android-Based Set-Top Box (PC World)

PC World – Google has teamed up with Dish Network to offer a set-top box based on the Android operating system, the Wall Street Journal
reports. The box is said to be operated via a keyboard and will serve YouTube videos straight to a TV set.
